Timeless Transport recovers cars, vans and light commercial vehicles in East Grinstead, Felbridge, Ashurst Wood and the lanes where West Sussex meets Surrey and East Sussex. We are a West Sussex firm based in West Chiltington, and East Grinstead is the north-eastern edge of where we work, so we will always tell you honestly how long we will be. If your vehicle will not move, call 01403 458457. You speak to the person who comes out, every job is tracked by live GPS, and you get a price on the phone before we set off.
Who we are
We are a small West Sussex recovery and transport firm, not a call centre that subcontracts your job to whoever answers.
East Grinstead is a long way from our yard and we would rather say that on this page than on the phone. We come across the top of the county, up the A24, across the A264 through Crawley and on past Copthorne, which on a normal weekday is a sensible run and at rush hour is not. So when you ring we give you a real arrival time, and you decide whether it works for you before anybody sets off.
Where it does work is the planned end of recovery: a car that has died on the drive, a van that will not start at the yard, a non-runner going to a garage in a day or two. East Grinstead is one part of our vehicle recovery across West Sussex, and the same A264 run brings us through vehicle recovery in Crawley on the way.

The roads
Two A roads meet at Felbridge on the north-west edge of town and most of our calls here sit on one or the other. The A22 runs north towards the Surrey border and south through Ashurst Wood and Forest Row towards the Ashdown Forest, and the stretch south of town is narrow, unlit in places and busy with traffic that is not stopping. If you have broken down there, get everyone out and well back from the road before you ring.
The A264 is the other, west to Copthorne and Crawley and east towards Tunbridge Wells. It is also our own way in, so a vehicle stopped on the western side of town is the quickest East Grinstead job we do.
Then there are the vans. East Grinstead has a good deal of trade work on its edges, and a van that will not start on a Monday morning is a different job from a car: it is usually heavier, usually loaded, and usually costing somebody money for every hour it sits there. Tell us the make, the model and roughly what is in the back when you ring, and we will tell you straight away whether it is one we can take.
And the lanes. Out towards Dormansland, Sharpthorne and Ashurst Wood the roads are narrow, often with no verge, and getting the trailer turned round can be as much of the job as loading the vehicle. Say exactly where you are and what the road is like, and we bring the right approach rather than finding out on arrival.
What we take
Most cars and most small and medium vans, on an open trailer or an enclosed one. A car that has stopped on the A22, a van that will not turn over in a yard, a project that has sat on a drive in Felbridge for three winters with seized brakes and flat tyres and needs winching aboard. Low cars go up on low ramps so nothing scrapes, and anything you would rather was not seen goes inside the enclosed trailer.
The weight limit matters more for vans than for cars, so here it is up front. We cannot load anything over 2.8 tonnes. Plenty of vans sit comfortably under that, but a large van with a full load in the back may not, and that is exactly why we ask what is in it before we set off.
We do not take on accident work. If your vehicle has been in a collision, your insurer’s accident line is the right first call. If it has simply stopped, we are.

Cost
Distance is part of it, and East Grinstead is further from us than most of the towns we cover, so we will not pretend otherwise.
What you get is a fixed price on the phone before we set off, and that is the price you pay. Moving a non-runner from a drive in Imberhorne to a garage in town is a different job from collecting a loaded van off the A22 after dark, and you will know which one yours is, and what it costs, before we leave the yard.
So ring 01403 458457 and describe it. It takes about thirty seconds and there is nothing to commit to.
Questions
Yes. Felbridge, Ashurst Wood, Forest Row, Dormansland, Lingfield, Sharpthorne and Crawley Down, plus the A22 and A264 either side of town. See areas we cover for the wider picture.
Honestly, it is one of the longer runs we do, which is why you get a real time on the phone rather than a promise on a website. If you are stranded somewhere unsafe and we are not the quickest option, we will say so and you can ring someone nearer.
Yes, up to 2.8 tonnes, which covers most small and medium vans. Tell us the make, the model and what is loaded in the back, and we will confirm before we set off.
Yes. The trailer has a winch and low ramps, so non-runners are loaded gently and strapped at the wheels before we move an inch.
We are fully insured for vehicles up to 2.8 tonnes, and every job is tracked by live GPS so you can see where your vehicle is rather than wondering.
Yes. East Grinstead sits right on the Surrey and East Sussex borders, and we recover to wherever you choose, not the nearest yard on a network map. For planned moves further afield, see vehicle transport and classic car transport.
